The initial outrage was over somebody giving their animal crossing

I disagree. The New Horizons Items initial outrage was over somebody giving their animal crossing character buns and some individual stating they were appropriating black culture. Some people only need to play the victim and be professionally offended at everything since sufferers get attention.

Getting rid of the first Aunt Jemima image was pretty clear as it's reasonable to locate it anachronistic and inappropriate, but I don't understand how folks were offended be the updated art. It was a totally innocent picture of a black woman's face I had read was motivated by an actual person involved with the business. It's almost like the image of a POC is prohibited in advertising unless the product is specifically geared towards that culture. Personally I believe that a step backward.

Well that's the sticking point. Are they celebrating it? Are they enjoying a free pass to utilize aspects of a culture without having to worry about the discrimination that follows for different races? Is this certain component of the civilization supposed to be shared and taught to other people, or is it usually reserved for specific individuals who have in some way got the right?

Ultimately I think cultural appropriation gets claimed too frequently, but it does not mean there isn't conversation to be had about it. But the others commenters do make some point, that some people can grow up and experience racism, bias, etc contrary to their civilization, to be called trashy for it, just to turn around and see others carrying parts of it because it's aesthetic or artsy or so buy Animal Crossing New Horizons Items on. That doesn't justify policing hair fashions, however, it provides context at least.
